Universal door holding jig

Contents of the hinge jig pack:

  • 2x hinge jigs (Left hand & Right hand)
  • 2x upper shelf spacers
  • 10x lower shoe spacers (4x 5mm, 4x 2mm, 4x 1mm)
  • 2x 30mm wood screws

This is my new product that I designed early this year (2025).

It’s a door hinge jig that will hold your cabinet door or wardrobe door in exactly the right position in both height and depth. The jig simply rests on the inside bottom of your wardrobe and pushes up against the cabinet edge. Fix one small screw (included) and you are now ready to hang your door.

This cabinet holds your door completely flush with the bottom of your wardrobe and also allows for a 5mm gap between the door edge (when at 90° to the wardrobe) and the wardrobe front edge. This gives the perfect gap when the door is in the closed position.

Colours may vary but can be requested. Products were made on a Bambu Lab 3d Printer (either P1S or X1 Carbon), using PETG filament, and on standard mode for the highest quality.

Products may show signs of imperfections due to the nature of construction.

Also included in the pack are some shelf spacers. These will give you the same 5mm gap at the top of the door, giving you an even parallel 5mm gap the entire length of your door back edge and wardrobe front edge.

They simply place onto a shelf or the top of your wardrobe.

Once you have screwed the jig on and placed the shelf spacer in place, all that is left is to place your door onto the jig at 90 degrees, push it up against the wardrobe and flip your hinges up against the carcass, and fix them in place… done!

Please note: for sale is the new and improved version which accepts all 3 hinge types – full overlay, half overlay and inset (the last version only accepted full overlay hinges).

This new and improved version is smaller in height, which allows it to fit under the lowest hinge without the hinge being unscrewed from the carcass.

This screw hole will be seen and not covered by the hinge plate. If you would like the taller version of this jig, where the screw hole is covered by the hinge plate, please leave a comment when you purchase your hinge jig set. But please be aware that the lowest hinge will need to be unscrewed to fit the hinge jig into position (the other hinges can be fixed in place, and then once fixed, the jig can be removed to enable fixing of the lowest hinge).

Procedures for a single person door installation:

Screw the jig on with the provided screw, then place the upper shelf packer on a shelf.

Make sure all hinges are all in closed position so not to scratch or mark wardrobe face whilst placing the door in place.

Place the door on the jig at 90 degrees to the carcass and push up against the built-in 6mm spacers, which are on both the jig and shelf spacer.

Have a cordless drill to hand with an 18mm screw placed on the pozi bit.

Hold the door with one hand, and with the other hand flip over the top hinge or the highest hinge you can reach.

Once it’s flipped against the door, push the plate to make sure it’s flat against the carcass.

Now you can pick up the drill with the screw already loaded on the pozi tip, and screw the hinge plate onto the carcass (you can pre-drill first if you prefer to).

Do the same for the second screw, and now one hinge is completely fixed.

Now that one hinge has been screwed into position, the door will hold itself in place.

You can now go ahead and finish off fixing the remaining hinges into position.

Once complete, you can remove the door jig fixing screw and remove the jig, along with the shelf spacer.

You can then go ahead and adjust the hinges as needed and, if needed.
